TREATMENT OPTIONS

If you have been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea — a condition in which relaxation of the muscles around the tongue and throat causes the tissues to block airflow to the lungs while you sleep — there are a number of treatment options to discuss with your doctor.

The most widely used and most effective is continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). For those patients who cannot tolerate CPAP treatment, Oral Appliance or Inspire may be an option.

An oral appliance fits over your teeth like an orthodontic retainer while you sleep and supports your jaw in a forward position to keep your airway open.

Inspire works inside your body while you sleep. It’s a small device placed during a same-day, outpatient procedure. When you’re ready for bed, simply click the remote to turn Inspire on.
